SM ENTERTAINMENT AND KRIS’ LAWYERS MEET FOR FIRST TIME AT SEOUL CENTRAL DISTRICT COURT

It has been reported that the lawsuit between SM Entertainment and former EXO member, Kris, could possibly be settled with a mutual agreement.

On the 11th of June, the Seoul Central District Court summoned both parties and encouraged them to communicate to reach a settlement. This summation is a procedure where the court tries to help mediate between the two parties to help close the case. After each side submits what they want, the court drafts an arbitration and sees if the two parties will accept the alternate plan. This will most likely be the last chance for the two parties to reach a mutual agreement before full-fledged court trials commence.

Last month, on May 15th, Kris filed a lawsuit agains SM. Kris’s representative stated, “Instead of suggesting or asking, SM Entertainment treated their artists as property and controlled them as they pleased. SM decided everything, both Korean and Chinese promotions and performances, totally one-sided without the celebrities opinion. Despite the highly successful promotions and business, there has been no reciprocity financially.”

As for SM, they replied shortly after the announcement that they were “very taken aback and flustered.”, revealing “We are trying our best to help EXO with their promotions.”

Fans are anxiously waiting for the news about if the two parties will reach an agreement to end the dispute early. Stay tuned for more updates!
