Kris Of EXO And SM Entertainment Ordered By Seoul Court To Pursue Mediation Before Case Goes To Trial

SM Entertainment, may be settled out of court.
On Wednesday, the Korean news publication Hangook Sports reported that legal counsel for both Kris and SM Entertainment were ordered in Seoul Central District Court to pursue out-of-court mediation with the goal of reaching a mutual agreement before the case goes to trial.

Last month, South Korea's government-financed news agency, Yonhap, revealed what they claimed was Kris's official lawsuit against SM.
"The company has treated me like a machine part or as an object of control rather than presenting a vision as an entertainer," Kris's official statement reportedly read.

SM Entertainment record company executives claimed to be baffled by the drastic turn of events.
"We are perplexed by the incident," said an official spokesperson. "We will do our best to keep EXO's activities on track."

An anonymous source reportedly close to the rapper told the publication that Kris was forced to pursue legal actions after his financial situation became untenable.
"Over the distribution of profit, SM only showed him a company-made invoice without any further detailed explanation," the source said.
"This forced Kris into constant financial difficulties despite an overload of work and activities...SM has abused its superior authority over Kris to exploit him."
On May 25, a week after news of Kris's alleged lawsuit spread across the web like wildfire, Kim "Suho" Joon Myun, frontman of the EXO "sub-unit" EX-K spoke out about Kris's decision at a press conference on the night of the Korean leg of their world tour, according to the website allkpop.

"We were mostly just shocked," Suho said.
"And, as it was a time period right before the tour, all of the members were hurting, not only physically, but emotionally as well."

Kris has been the frontman of EXO-M.
